Part 3 - The Healing Session

Embarking on an energy healing journey can feel both intriguing and unfamiliar, especially for those new to the practice. Whether you’re preparing for a face-to-face or remote session, understanding what to expect can help ease any uncertainties and enhance your experience.

From the initial consultation to the variety of sensations experienced during the session, energy healing offers a deeply personal, restorative process designed to address both physical and emotional imbalances. Each session is tailored to the individual, with practitioners creating a calming environment that promotes comfort and relaxation.

As you explore the nuances of energy healing, this chapter will guide you through the common stages of a session, what you might feel during and after, and practical tips for finding the right practitioner for your unique needs. Whether you seek relief from stress, physical discomfort, or a deeper connection to yourself, energy healing offers a powerful, holistic approach to well-being.

3.1 - What to Expect

At the beginning of a healing session, in both face-to-face and remote sessions, the client shares their personal history and describes their symptoms, a process that typically takes about 15-30 minutes. Throughout the session, clients remain clothed (with exceptions for treatments like acupuncture or massages) and may either sit comfortably or lie down. The environment is designed to promote comfort with elements like soft lighting and gentle music. The energy specialist/practitioner then moves their hands several times a few centimeters above the client’s body and/or over the painful areas, most often without touch or contact (except for manual techniques, like massage, and traditional Reiki). The duration of hand placement varies greatly, it can be anywhere from 2 to 30 minutes. When the session is remote, the process is carried out through visualization and intention.

Although each client's experience is unique, the most frequently mentioned reactions during the session are: sensations of heat or cold, tingling, muscle contractions or tremors, yawning, coughing, deep relaxation, fatigue and sometimes emotional release (tears, sobs, sighs, etc.), more rarely, trance or levitation of the limbs. At the end of the session, some practitioners give treatment and aftercare instructions regarding sleep or diet. Finally, relief might not be immediate, but sometimes emerging hours or even days after a session.

Note: Almost all energy therapies are brief and follow a solution-focused approach. Energy therapies are effective in resolving certain disorders and conditions such as minor pain and discomfort, stress and anxiety, fatigue, and emotional imbalance in a limited number of sessions (typically 1-2, up to 5).

Many clients report profound relaxation and a heightened sense of emotional security post-session, with some experiencing overwhelming feelings of happiness, clarity, and deep connection with themselves, others, and even the universe. Many clients leave feeling reconnected with their body, with others, with nature, and with their soul.

At Luminara, we are committed to ensuring each client is fully prepared to maximize the benefits of their 1-1 remote energy healing session. From superior-quality music to guided breathing exercises, we set the tone for relaxation and deep healing. Our patented digital handshake or hug helps signal to the brain that more than just visual interaction will occur, preparing clients for a profound healing experience. Every detail is designed to ensure a centered, present, and impactful session, with full privacy and security through our HIPAA and GDPR-compliant video platform.

3.2 - Finding the Right Practitioner for You

Most people rely on recommendations from family, friends, or doctors to find trustworthy practitioners. According to various studies (Ambassador) (Roster) (PR Daily), about 83% of people say that word-of-mouth influences their purchasing decisions, and 84% of consumers trust recommendations from family, colleagues, and friends.

However, not everyone has access to personal recommendations.

To avoid impostors in energy healing, be cautious of practitioners who make extravagant promises, charge excessively high or unclear fees, or pressure you to undress unnecessarily (except in certain manual therapies). Be wary if they encourage too frequent sessions, suggest stopping medical treatments, or advise against seeing conventional doctors. If they make dubious threats or cause feelings of discomfort or manipulation, it's best to leave.

Energy healing is a holistic practice that involves your active participation, so don't hesitate to ask questions and, most importantly, trust your intuition and feelings when selecting a practitioner.

To solve this, Luminara offers a highly curated selection of experienced and compassionate practitioners known for their integrity and effectiveness. Our platform goes beyond just listing healers—we provide in-depth video portraits to guide clients in making informed decisions, all while emphasizing autonomy in the therapeutic journey.

3.3 - Pricing

The cost of energy sessions varies widely by location and practitioner expertise.

For expert practitioners, in medium-sized cities, expect to pay around $100 for an hour-long session, while in larger cities, fees may rise to $140 or more, reaching and exceeding $200 in places like New York City.

Costs can fluctuate based on the practitioner's reputation, the local cost of living, whether the session is conducted in-person or remotely, and the type of treatment provided.

Currently, no mainstream U.S. insurance companies consistently cover Reiki as a standalone treatment. However, with the increasing recognition of Reiki and other forms of energy medicine in hospitals, this could change in the near future. Reiki is already being integrated into various healthcare settings as a complementary therapy, particularly in cancer centers and for post-surgery recovery, where it is used to help patients manage pain, reduce stress, and promote healing.

For example, acupuncture, which was once considered an alternative therapy, is now covered by many insurance plans, including Aetna and UnitedHealthcare, especially for pain management and certain chronic conditions. Similarly, chiropractic care, once outside the realm of mainstream medicine, is now widely covered by insurance plans as part of holistic health care.

Pricing on our platform matches what practitioners offer on their own websites, but comes with additional benefits. Luminara provides flexible payment options, premium customer service, and an enhanced experience through detailed videos to help clients choose the right healer. This balance of transparency, convenience, and support makes for a seamless and elevated wellness journey.
